Contemporary Estate

We were ecstatic when these clients engaged TMI to design the interiors of their palatial suburban home.  A professional couple had recently purchased it and wanted to infuse the space with a contemporary vibe.  The scope of the project involved designing the entry way, the living room, the office, and additional areas in the home.  The home also came to us with high ceilings, which called out for color.  Our color story was reflective of a feeljng of contemporary intimacy – browns, coppers and rusts. A local artisan created drama on the 22-foot high den walls by applying a Venetian plaster effect, and he added specialty finishes to the 12-foot high ceilings in the formal living and dining rooms.

In the den was placed a custom sofa, set with a four-inch shag rug that exudes contemporary elegance.  Continuing in that vein, the fireplace and TV surround were done out in a polished travertine.  In the couple’s home office, we went with an antique leather finish on the walls and added a custom copper and slate water fountain to the room.  Beyond those rooms, we put a faux finish in the home’s various niches.
