MEET THE DESIGNER

I am a Portland interior designer with over 15 years of design experience, serving residential and commercial clients.  I am also an active member and currently President of The Northwest Society of Interior Designers (NWSID).

  • DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

My design passion is creating comfortable, awe-enriching interiors balanced by a little bit of whimsy.  My philosophy is simple: create powerful interior spaces that reflect my client’s style.  I focus my energy on helping my clients articulate their own personal narratives, tastes and subtle nuances.  I take great pleasure in uncovering a client’s likes and dislikes, idiosyncrasies, collections, and unique color palette.  I am here to help my clients design interiors that tell their story.  I enjoy the opportunity to work with different styles and periods.  My openness to various styles is an asset to my clients. I thrive and welcome any style a client finds most appealing, such as Minimalism, Craftsman, Transitional, Contemporary or Traditional.  Clients also appreciate my ability to juxtapose a variety of design elements in their home.

  • DESIGN INSPIRATIONS

I draw inspiration from traveling around the world, studying furniture design and its evolution, and taking in as much of architecture as possible.  When travelling, I always make a point of visiting a city’s art and design collections.  I have traveled extensively through the US, Europe, and Central America, and have ambitions of traveling to Asia in the near future.  After all, all design is interlinked:  what is happening in Italian design today could be happening in my client’s living room tomorrow.

  • CREDENTIALS

I bring to my clients over fifteen years experience as a designer.  Prior to receiving my degree of Applied Sciences in Interior Design, I spent over a decade as an award-winning pastry chef and as a distinguished floral designer.  These two prior incarnations grounded me in the fundamentals of design, application, and execution.  Through this work, my professional development led me to become an Interior Designer. After completing my degree, I launched my firm with offices in Downtown Portland.

  • APPROACH

I take a hands-on, direct approach to my design work.  Sensitive to my clients’ preferences as to email, text, or phone, I am proactive in my communication.  I am here to help the client make sound decisions, achieve the best value for their investment, and advocate for my client’s interests.  On the flip side, I have developed very strong vendor relationships, which I leverage to bring my client’s the best products at the best price.  I strive to be thoughtful and forward-looking so that I can plan for and help overcome any contingencies that may crop up during the design project.

  • DESIGN PROCESS

When working on design projects, I apply a consistent process of first understanding your profile and then making custom selections.  Your design profile will likely include color preferences, collections, your lifestyle, and your financial resources.  You may have needs and environmental considerations.  After completing your design profile we move to space planning.  I will create a unique plan that will guide the design work and the specific site.  We will then make selections, including furniture, textiles, colors, and architectural enhancements.  As your designer, I will handle all aspects of procurement, delivery, and installation and will guide you through this process.  We will meet periodically throughout the project, as I will be on-site and moving the work forward until the last detail is in place.
